What is Batch Processing?

Batch processing is an automatic process in which a computer performs a series of tasks without the need for human intervention. This type of processing is ideal for high-volume, repetitive data jobs such as generating end-of-shift reports or monthly payrolls. Other common names for batch processing are workload automation (WLA) and job scheduling.
