VT100 (Video Terminal 100) is a video terminal from the late 1970s. The terminal was one of the first to be based on an industry standard Intel 8080 microprocessor architecture. VT100 quickly became popular, and an industry standard.
The terminal used the ASCII character set, had scrolling, and custom character definition as some of the features. VT100 is one of the first terminals to implement ANSI escape codes, which became a standard for hardware terminals and terminal emulators.
