Availability measures a system's ability to provide uninterrupted service, typically evaluated by the amount of downtime the system suffers during a specific period (weekly, monthly, annually, etc.). Measuring availability is a standard practice in assessing system performance and recoverability in case of a failure (natural disasters, cyber-attacks, human errors, etc.).
