AWS Direct Connect is a network service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that allows customers to establish dedicated, private network connections between their on-premises infrastructure and AWS cloud services. This dedicated network connection bypasses the public Internet and establishes secure, high-speed connections to AWS resources, which improves performance, reduces latency, and provides more consistent network performance compared to Internet-based connections.
AWS Direct Connect provides multiple connectivity options, including dedicated connections that provide private access to AWS services from a customer’s data center or colocation facility and hosted connections that allow customers to connect to AWS using a partner’s network. With AWS Direct Connect, customers can choose from multiple connection speeds ranging from 50Mbps to 100Gbps, and they can easily scale their connections up or down to meet their current needs.
